Frequent additions and retrofitting of equipment and machines result in less and less moving space available for operators and unintentional operation of emergency stop pushbuttons occurs more and more frequently. This can cause process standstill and troubleshooting downtimes. The effect of mechanical forces is even more severe. An emergency stop pushbutton installed at an exposed location may be damaged particularly in production applications so that it is required to stop the machine immediately. This results in high production downtime costs.
These problems can be resolved by installing protective collars that protect the pushbuttons from unintentional operation and damage. Another great advantage of RAFI protective collars is that they can be mounted directly on the front panel using two screws and without mechanical attachment to the actuator and/or emergency stop pushbutton. This provides for additional safety because lateral forces are not transferred to the actuator housing.
